FATHER CAVANAUGH: You know, you remind me of the man that lived by the river. He heard a radio report
\nthat the river was going to rush up and flood the town. And that all the residents
\nshould evacuate their homes. But the man said, \u201cI\u2019m religious. I pray. God loves me.
\nGod will save me.\u201d The waters rose up. A guy in a row boat came along and he shouted,
\n\u201cHey, hey you! You in there. The town is flooding. Let me take you to safety.\u201d But the
\nman shouted back, \u201cI\u2019m religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me.\u201d A helicopter
\nwas hovering overhead. And a guy with a megaphone shouted, \u201cHey you, you down there.
\nThe town is flooding. Let me drop this ladder and I\u2019ll take you to safety.\u201d But the
\nman shouted back that he was religious, that he prayed, that God loved him and that
\nGod will take him to safety. Well… the man drowned. And standing at the gates of
\nSt. Peter, he demanded an audience with God. \u201cLord,\u201d he said, \u201cI\u2019m a religious man,
\nI pray. I thought you loved me. Why did this happen?\u201d God said, \u201cI sent you a radio
\nreport, a helicopter, and a guy in a rowboat. What the hell are you doing here?\u201d<\/p>\n
(He pauses. Bartlet looks very upset.)<\/p>\n
FATHER CAVANAUGH: He sent you a priest, a rabbi, and a Quaker, Mr. President. Not to mention his son,
