Lindsey and I celebrated two wonderful years of marriage on June 25th, 2013. I can’t believe how quickly the time has passed since our “big day.” It seems like just yesterday that we were sorting through all of the details of the wedding planning – me a bit too involved!
The suggested gift for a second anniversary gift is cotton. Knowing better than to come home empty hanged, I found a pillow with a depiction of the Old Mission Lighthouse on it, which is near where I proposed.
We also attended a Brandi Carlile music concert at the Interlochen Arts Academy with mom, dad, and Katy. She played for over two hours, and was as good as ever.
Now, onto the third year!
Tonight Elke, my exchange sister from the Netherlands will arrive with her husband Jaap, (pronounced YAp), her adorable daughters Rene and Lara and our handsome long lost brother, Sandor! We are so excited to have them in town! Thankfully, I was given this whole week off, and so far, I am busier now than if I would be working! Last minute details are fun though!….until next time…..
A tip for Chris’ groomsman…
I am not the greatest with words….but these sum it up pretty well :)
I love the way you make me so happy,
And the ways you show you care.
I love the way you say, “I Love You,”
And the way you’re always there.

In the past week we have confirmed with the photographers, videographer, band, cake creator, chair coverer, country club, minister, and church…..WE ARE READY TO GET MARRIED!!!!!
I can not believe Chris and I will be tying the knot in less than three weeks!!!! It seems like just yesterday it was september and we were hiking out to Lighthouse Point where he proposed! All of the final details are coming together beautifully and I am so excited to see 9 months of planning come to life! I am very much looking forward to seeing all of our friends and meeting some new ones too :) Hope everyone has their dancing shoes ready!
Chris has had his most brillant idea yet! I want to keep it a secret, but the title of this post should give you a little idea….I am sure we will have lots of photos after the wedding for you to see our creation!
The big day is getting closer now! I, for one am SO EXCITED!
Chris and I love DWTS….ok, I love DWTS and he watches it too :) We recently started taking dance lessons, and I LOVE IT! Learning each new step is hilarious and fun, and by far the best part is practicing at home, and having Yogi look at us, like….”what in the world are you two doing” :) Hopefully we will remember all of our steps on June 25th, but this has been a great experience, and I love being Chris’ partner and cannot wait to dance the night away with all of our family and friends!
Happy May! Just wanted to take a quick moment to blog about a few things…
1. Ever heard of simplyblueweddings? Check out their website…They are the ultimate Northern Michigan Wedding Resource! I am slightly obsessed and loved their website. We found our photographer on their vendor page and have borrowed several of their ideas from their almost daily blog updates. My favorite part of this website is the photos of bride and grooms with a cute love poem or quote as the caption…. I can’t wait to make some art like this for Chris and I’s home one day!
2. Gifts! Chris and I have been over joyed and over whelmed with the amount of love, support and gifts we have received already from friends and family! Thank you so much for everything! I can not begin to express how grateful we are :) A few of you have sent us money and we just wanted to thank you, and let you know we have started a “honeymoon fund”! We are going to leave on Sunday after the wedding, and will be heading to Marbella, Spain! I’m sure we will have a separate blog post about Spain, so stay tuned!
3. We love you and look forward to celebrating with you in less than two months!
Well the time has finally come! The invitations are in the mail!!! Whoo Hoo! We have already received some response cards and it was like christmas when I went to the mail box, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but wonderful response cards sitting right there!!!….which means, it will be like christmas every day for the next few weeks!!!!
Chris and I watched Kate and William tie the knot this morning and her dress was nothing short of Incredible! I loved the sleeves, the lace, her hair, her tiara, the bodice, everything….and my dress is…. well, nothing like it! As Chris teared up and I grinned from ear to ear as they said their vows, I kept thinking about our big day…just 56 days away!
I was a man at a bridal shower this past weekend, which, I’m told, isn’t totally unheard of. (Yes, I was invited.) I walked in and this big group of women was laughing. Instantly I wondered if my fly was open or if I had mis-buttoned my shirt. No, it wasn’t that. I had arrived at the tail-end of trivia. Questions that I had willingly surrendered answers to without knowing what I was getting myself into.
Lindsey and I were seated at the front of the group, so that we could open gifts in front of everyone and nod at the gift givers and mouth, ‘Thank you’ in her direction. This sounded like a great idea – like having Christmas morning to yourself, uninterrupted by siblings or parents opening gifts. However, rarely am I forced to open lingerie in front of a crowd on Christmas morning. As soon as I saw the familiar dark and light pink striped box, I handed it to Lindsey. Here, honey, you can deal with this! My grandma was literally ten feet away. Her grandma, too.
Ah, well, it’s fun! That’s why we’re getting married! To push the boundaries and move up up and away in life. On a final note, it was cool to see many of the wonderful women that Lindsey has had in her life while growing up.
I think spring is finally here! Thank Goodness! Chris and I ventured down to the Roger’s beach this weekend with the doggies, and while they were playing in the water, I had some fun with Rocks :) Hope everyone is enjoying the new season!
My family also hosted the first bridal shower this past weekend. It was AWESOME! My family, Chris’s grandma and Aunt and my work family were all there and it was so much fun! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for all the fantastic gifts and well wishes. We love you all!
Looking for the perfect summer salad? Look no further! This entree is served with fresh greens, strawberries, grapes, grilled chicken, and of course, goat cheese!, accompanied by Strawberry Vinaigrette dressing…..Yum yum! Can anyone guess what Lindsey will be having on her wedding day? :)
Last weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Lanham (Peg’s Parents) had us over for one of their famous Sunday Dinners, which is basically like Thanksgiving, but for no reason at all other than to spend some time together and consume massive amounts of food :) After the feast, we had grandma show us her dress collection! We found this fancy little number which both her and my mom instantly recognized…”This is the dress I wore to Peg’s wedding!” I have heard of Bride’s wearing their mother’s gown, but never mother of the brides, wearing their mother’s dress….perhaps we could start a new trend! Pretty class for the late 70’s!
For those of you who don’t know, I love Cake, cookies, brownies, ice cream, pies, and pretty much anything sweet. So, when St. Patrick’s day rolled around, I decided we needed to celebrate with a cake! So we called Aunt B’s (our wedding cake creator) and asked her to come up with an idea for a St. Patrick’s day Themed Cake, and oh yeah, make it the same flavor as our wedding cake!!! (we love it!!!) So here is what she came up with….PRETTY AMAZING HUH? :)
